Being Prepared for a Disaster

I came across a post from The Krazy Coupon Lady, I love this girl so much! Well she made a post on how to prepare in case of a disaster. This happened because of the event in Japan. Now, although, there are barley any disaster in New Mexico, besides from the major snow storm we had. This is a great way to always be prepared for the "just in case" moment. My dad has always tried to be prepared, from flash lights all over the house, and my mom making sure we had a good supply of food. 

There is a saying, its better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. You never know what type of disaster that will happen. Creating a stockpile with couponing will not only help you be prepared for financial troubles but also help you and your loved ones in an event of a disaster.My father even told me when he saw my stockpile, to gather everything and head over at my parents house. :) It makes me feel proud that I know I am able to help out now and even more when, God forbid, something happens.

Ok, so if you haven't went through your circulars yet and checked out the Redplum coupons that came with it, I finally got to do it. Now, if you have looked through it, you already seen some of the deals. I found/had coupons for the ones advertised and I'm sharing them with you.

Coffee-Mate $2.99

• Go to coffeemate.com and print out a $0.75 off one coupon. (you can print more) = $2.24
• If you are buying 2 of them Smiths has an electronic coupon for $1.00 off 2
• You can combine the printable and the e-coupon total savings $2.50 off = $1.74 each!!
• There is also a Catalina coupon, if you don't have it, one will print out at the time of check out
• BUT, if you do have one, its and extra $0.75 off 2! Yes, I did do this last week with all three above types of coupons and paid only $1.36 each!!

• Now, what I did since I had 4 copies of each coupons I ended up buying 8 body washes and 8 deodorants for only $6.00!!!!!!
• Since the BOGO coupon says you get the body was for FREE if you buy the deodorant, you still have that $1/$2 off that body wash that will count towards the deodorants since it is free. Making the deodorants $0.99 each!!!
• If you only get one set of the Old Spice and one set of the Gillette it will be FREE!!! The e-coupons will cancel out that last $0.99 from the deodorants and now you have 2 body washes and 2 deodorants for free!!

Walgreens Top Deals!

Here are only some of the things I grabbed at Walgreens. I only wanted to so you the best deals!

• 6pk of Arrowhead bottled water, on sale for BOGO for $2.99
• I got 4 of them and used 4-$1.00 off (coupons.com) to make the final price $1.98!!
• Dawn dish soap 10.3oz (I got 4 of them)
• In-ad coupon makes them $0.99 each -$1.00 ( 4 of $0.25 off in P&G insert) = $2.96 for 4!
• That's $0.74 each!!!!!
• Colgate Total Enamel Control 4.0oz
• On clearance for $1.79!! (Look hard for it) - $1.00 off (last weeks smartsource insert) = $0.79!!!!

So here is only a few of them, I did get more items but they were not as great as these!

Target Deals!!!

Here is some of the amazing deals I came across Target yesterday!

• $2.39-0.55=$1.84 final price
• Ponds face wipes, I got 2 of them
• $9.58 ($4.79x2) -$3.00 (Target coupon, $1.50 off) -$3.00 (MFR coupon) =$3.58!! 
• That comes out to be $1.79 each!
• Kotex liners, I got 4 of them
• $4.28 ($1.07x4) -$3.00 (MFR coupon, $1.50 off 2) = $1.28!!!!!!
• For 4 packages that comes out to $0.32 each!!!
• Rimmel mascara
• $2.99 - $2.00 (coupons.com) = $0.99!!!
• Excedrin Migraine 50ct
• $5.99 - $3.00 (Target coupon) - $1 (MFR coupon) = $1.99!

Where to find coupons!

Well many have asked me recently, "Where do you get your coupons from?" So I thought a small blog as a refference you can always go to when you have questions. 

Here are some places to consider:

• Sunday papers (I buy these in multiple)
• In your mailbox (Redplum sends their inserts in the mail either Wednesday or Tuesday along with the store ads.
• Websites like, coupons.com, smartsource.com, redplum.com, and shortcuts.com.
• If you have a smiths card, you can go on their website and load e-coupons into your smiths card!
• Go online to the stores your visiting, they usually have store coupons you can print from their.
• A great place you can look is the manufacture's website. About 9 out of 10 times you can print a coupon from their site.
• Finally, go to Facebook or Twitter, and "like" the manufacture of what ever product you like, and usually they have a coupon for you to print.

So there are the main sources to find the wonderful coupons! :-)

Coupon Basics

There are a few things to know about couponing. There is a proper technique how to use a coupon the right way.

• Only use the coupons combined with sales.
• Make sure you look at the stores coupon policy.
• Get multiples of papers and print online coupons.
• Stack coupons on top of sales.
• Stacking coupons mean to combine a store coupon along with a manufacture coupon.
• There are certain loop holes that work and do not affect the "coupon rules".
• Here are some stacking tips:
• If the item is BOGO (buy one get one free), and if you have a BOGO coupon, both of them are free!
• If the item is BOGO, you can use 2 coupons for that item since you are buying 2. OR, if the item is not BOGO but you have a BOGO coupon you can use that also. To make it a better deal, along with that BOGO coupon, if you have 1 coupon for a certain $$ off you can use those also!
• Only use the coupon when the item is on sale to get more value. 
• If you have multiple coupons for items, do not feed into "one per purchase", it simply means "one per item". So if you have 5 coupons for body wash, go ahead and get 5 body washes.

So here is my first post for couponing!! I am excited to get this started! Many people have asked me for advice or what exactly to do, so I thought this will help everyone. This is just a small introduction about what exactly this blog is strictly about. I will be showing you how to properly to coupon so you can save the most of your money. I will also find out good deals around Albuquerque from sales to going out to eat. I am new to this but I am only getting better. Its only been a few months since I have been a "serious" couponer, but I have saved close to a thousand dollars! I hope you will enjoy my blog and you are more than welcome to ask questions!
